Empowering Students with Disabilities for a Safer Digital Future

The Project
The ThinkSafe project, officially titled “Enhance All Young Vulnerable Groups to Critical Thinking” (acronym: THINKSAFE), represents an Erasmus+ KA220-SCH Cooperation Partnership in school education. Operating from September 1, 2023, through August 31, 2025, ThinkSafe empowers students with disabilities by developing essential digital competencies to recognize misinformation and disinformation, safeguard against online threats, and make well-informed decisions in digital environments.

This strategic initiative addresses the escalating challenges confronting young people with disabilities in our progressively digital society, where the capacity to critically assess online content and navigate digital spaces securely has become indispensable. ThinkSafe champions critical thinking, digital literacy, and online safety while cultivating an inclusive and secure learning ecosystem for all students.

Target Groups
ThinkSafe emphasizes inclusion and diversity through its comprehensive targeting approach:

Primary Beneficiaries:

  1. Primary and lower-secondary school students with disabilities (aged 12–18)
  2. Educators, teachers, and caregivers supporting students with disabilities in both mainstream and specialized educational settings
  3. NGOs, volunteers, and support personnel engaged in disability education and digital inclusion initiatives

Secondary Beneficiaries:

  1. Local and regional authorities committed to digital literacy advancement
  2. Volunteer organizations and associate partners focused on digital inclusion

Through this multi-stakeholder engagement strategy, the project generates a multiplier effect, ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer and resource distribution across European communities.

Objectives
ThinkSafe operates under strategically defined objectives:

Core Digital Competencies:

  1. Develop critical digital skills enabling students with disabilities to differentiate between factual and misleading online content
  2. Implement comprehensive online safety strategies protecting against cyberbullying, fraudulent schemes, and inappropriate material

Critical Thinking Development:

  1. Enhance analytical thinking and autonomous decision-making capabilities when evaluating digital information
  2. Promote ethical online conduct and heightened awareness of digital vulnerabilities

Inclusion and Accessibility:

  1. Address the digital divide by strengthening digital competencies among students with disabilities
  2. Establish secure, inclusive online learning environments that encourage positive social engagement and celebrate diversity

These objectives directly support Erasmus+ strategic priorities including digital transformation, addressing educational disadvantages, and advancing inclusion and diversity in educational contexts.
